In recent years, working from home has become more common and more frequent. For this reason, new requirements are also put forward for the portability of office equipment. In addition to the most common notebooks, mini PCs are also the choice of many people. ASUS PB62 Mini PC is such a product, with a compact size and powerful performance, it takes into account the needs of portability and productivity. Recently, I also experienced this mini PC, let’s talk about my feelings about it.

Appearance & Internal Teardown
The first intuitive feeling of ASUS PB62 is that it is small, the size of the machine is 175*175*44.2mm, and it can be held with one hand. It does not take up space on the desktop, and it is also very convenient to carry around.
The square shape ensures that the machine can be placed either lying down or standing up, making it more free to use. And equipped with a VESA mount, the host can be hung on the back of the monitor, further saving desktop space, which is very suitable for users who pursue simplicity.
The host uses a metal casing, the workmanship is quite delicate, and it has a good texture. Although it is small in size, the ASUS PB62 is still very good in terms of interfaces. The front panel provides 4 USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports, USB3.2 Gen1 Type-C front port, 3.5mm headphone port and microphone port.
On the back of the fuselage, there are USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A interface, 2 USB2.0 Type-A interfaces, 2 DP1.2 interfaces and 1 HDMI interface, which can display 3 screens at the same time. In addition, a 2.5G network port is provided on the back of the fuselage. With the continuous improvement of the operator’s bandwidth and the continuous upgrading of router equipment, the 2.5G network port has a better user experience compared to the traditional Gigabit Ethernet port, and the fuselage network port will not be the limit of the network speed. It is worth mentioning that the official has also launched a Gigabit Ethernet port module. Users can buy it by themselves and replace the HDMI interface with a Gigabit Ethernet port to achieve dual network card configuration to meet more usage needs.
As for the wireless network part, ASUS PB62 provides dual-band WiFi 6, which has higher bandwidth, higher coverage, and lower latency and power consumption than the previous generation of WiFi 5. In this way, whether you use a wired network or a wireless network, you have a very good experience.
There is also a Kensington anti-theft lock hole on the back of the MINI PC. In fact, when it comes to security, the ASUS PB62 goes beyond just providing a keyhole. It also has a case intrusion warning, which will issue an alert if the case has been opened since the last boot. In addition, for the reading and writing of the USB interface, corresponding control functions are also provided to ensure a safer use experience.
Although the ASUS PB62 is very compact, it still provides good performance. I got the 11th-generation Core i7-11700 version, and it’s a standard voltage version. At the same time, it also provides Core i5-11400 version to choose from, to meet the different needs of users.
Let’s take another look at the insides of the Asus PB62 Mini PC. The teardown process is also very simple. After unscrewing a screw on the back, the top cover can be opened. After opening, the left side of the fuselage is a 2.5-inch hard drive, and the right side is the heat dissipation structure.
When the 2.5-inch hard drive tray is removed, the M2 slot hidden below is exposed for hard drive expansion. It should be mentioned that the body actually provides two M2 slots, and the other pre-installed SSD slot is located on the back of the body. Of the two M2 slots, one adopts the PCIe 3.0 standard and the other adopts the PCIe 4.0 standard to meet the needs of users.
Below the fan is the memory slot. It can be seen that there is another memory slot for user expansion.
Interestingly, during the teardown process, I found that ASUS PB62 also has a built-in 1W small speaker, which can meet some basic usage needs.
Performance Testing
The positioning of ASUS PB62 Mini PC is mainly for routine use requirements such as office work and Internet access. How about the performance? I’ll test it out.
The one I got is equipped with the i7-11700 standard voltage version with a TDP of 65W, which is suitable for daily use.
Using CPU-Z to test, single-core 525.4 points, multi-core 4150.9 points, which can be regarded as normal performance.
Using the 3DMARK CPU Profile test, 16 threads scored 5407, 8 threads scored 4421, and 4 threads scored 2972. The performance of different threads is also its due performance.
Although it is not a product for positioning game needs, we have also conducted corresponding tests. In the 3DMARK Time Spy test, the score was 708 points, the graphics card score was 614 points, and the CPU score was 5476 points.
In the 3DMARK Fire Strike test, the score was 1900 points, the graphics card score was 2237 points, the physical score was 17657 points, and the comprehensive score was 548 points.
In the 3DMARK Fire Strike Extreme test, the score is 866 points, the graphics card score is 912 points, the physical score is 18393 points, and the comprehensive score is 309 points.
At the same time, we also used the productivity test of PCMark 10, and the final productivity score was 7256 points.
On the PCMark 10 Extended test, the productivity score was 7393 points. According to the test, ASUS PB62 Mini PC shows its due level and meets the needs of daily use. In fact, during the test, I learned that in order to ensure better temperature control performance, ASUS has also recently updated the BIOS.
At the same time, I also tested the actual use. For our daily applications such as Photoshop, ASUS PB62 can be said to be very easy to deal with, even if it is a simple video processing, the problem is not big.
Despite positioning as a productivity tool, in fact, if you occasionally use it to play games like LOL, it is completely fine.
Conclusion:
ASUS PB62 Mini PC has a compact shape and provides multiple configuration options, users can choose according to their actual needs. At the same time, it has a wealth of interfaces, and the Win11 system is pre-installed, which can be used immediately after booting, which is very convenient. Therefore, for some users with mobile office needs, ASUS PB62 Mini PC provides a third choice besides desktops and notebooks.
