Appearance Design and Comfort
Compared to TWS eabuds, the Beyerdynamic Verio 200 charging case is slightly larger – but it is still quite portable and can be easily put into the pocket. The charging case adopts a flat design and plastic material, and the surface has a comfortable skin-like process – it is not easy to leave fingerprints. The color of the charging csae is the same as the earphones.
There is a noticeable feedback when the lid is opened and closed, which makes people feel very solid. The earphones are adsorbed into the card slot, which is very convenient to put in, but a little difficult to take out. It is best to use your fingers to move the end of the black earphone stem. The inside of the charging case is marked with the “beyerdynamic” brand logo, and below it is an indicator light and multi-function button.
The Verio 200 earphones adopt the traditional earhook design, which is mainly composed of the sound cavity, earhook and earphone stem (earhook end). The surface of the orange earhook is made of silicone material, which is not only skin-friendly, but also waterproof and sweat-proof. The outer side of the sound cavity is a combination of glossy and matte materials. The circular glossy area is the touch operation area, and the logo color is the same as the earhook. There is also a hidden indicator light on the outside, which can only be seen when it is lit.
The charging metal contacts are on the inside, but there is no protruding design, which does not affect the wearing experience at all. The earphone cavity looks larger than similar earphones because it has a built-in 16.2mm dynamic driver, which also creates a higher ceiling in terms of sound.
Beyerdynamic Verio 200 adopts an open ear hook design, which means there is no structure that goes deep into the ear canal, can always ensure that the ear canal is unobstructed and there will be no stuffy feeling.
The Verio 200 is fixed by the earhook structure, and the anti-slip and lightweight design can bring a better wearing experience. The silicone material of the earhook is soft and skin-friendly, and it is very comfortable for daily wear. The earhook structure is relatively stable and is not easy to fall off when running.
After adjusting to a more comfortable wearing state, you will feel a little weight of the earphones when wearing them for a long time. When wearing them daily, try not to press the earphones too tightly, otherwise you may feel a noticeable sense of oppression after wearing them for a long time.
Connectivity, App Support and Controls
Beyerdynamic Verio 200 uses Bluetooth 5.3 technology and supports SBC, AAC and Qualcomm aptX codecs, but not LDAC. Plus, their signal stability and wall penetration are pretty good.
The Verio 200 has three pairing methods. After opening the charging case, it will automatically enter the pairing state. I tested three mobile phones, two android phones found “beyerdynamic VERIO 200” directly in the bluetooth list, but the Apple phone’s bluetooth list did not find it. So I long-press the multi-function button to successfully pair with the Apple phone.
There is also a third pairing method, which is when the earphones are not in the charging case. Click the left/right earphone 5 times to enter the pairing state. After entering the pairing mode, the LED indicator on the earphones starts to flash red and white alternately.
The Verio 200 supports the Beyerdynamic App for Android and iOS. Click add new device and the app will automatically sync the currently connected headphones. After adding the headphones, you can see the battery information, equalizer, auto-off, voice assistant switch and custom controls in the app – the app’s functions are very limited.
The touch control area of Verio 200 earphones is large, sensitive and responsive. The default control method is also good – single-tap for pause/play, double-tap for answer/hang up/next song, triple-tap for previous song, long-press to activate voice assistant/reject call. The controversy lies in the logical design of adjusting volume, which is double-tap on the right earphone and long press on the second click to increase the volume, double-tap on the left earphone and long press on the second click to reduce the volume. The advantage of this design is that it can clearly distinguish the difference in action definition, but in actual operation, the effect of the second click can easily change to pause.
Calls and Battery Life
I tested phone calls and voice calls, both long-distance and on the road – the signal was good and the voices on both sides were clear.
The official claim is that the single battery life is up to 8 hours, the total battery life is 35 hours, and it supports fast charging – 10 minutes of charging is 1 hour of use. This data is very close after actual use, I listened to music for 2 hours continuously, and the battery level dropped from 100% to 90%. Plus, it will automatically shut down when there is no audio information for a long time, and the length of the automatic shutdown can be selected in the app.
Sound Quality and Leakage
Beyerdynamic Verio 200 is equipped with a 16.2mm graphene neodymium dynamic driver and supports Bluetooth 5.3 and Qualcomm aptX Adaptive/Lossless audio coding.
The low-frequency quantity of Verio 200 is good and extended deeply. The cohesion is still not focused enough, but you can already feel the power when listening to percussion.
The vocals are full, and the singer’s breathing and pronunciation can be heard at 70% volume (if you want more clarity, you can turn it up higher, but it will affect the perception of the surrounding sound). Its style is light, slightly warm, full and transparent, and maintains a good level with the background music.
The Verio 200 has 5 EQ presets. The default EQ has a low-frequency extension to 70Hz (-6dB), a significant peak at 7kHz, and a bright and sharp tuning style.
The sound leakage attenuation of Verio 200 at a distance of 20cm and 1m is 45.4dBA and 58.7dBA respectively, which is a normal level for earhook OWS headphones.
Beyerdynamic Verio 200 adopts an open-ear design, so you can communicate with friends normally while wearing the earphones. Because the open-ear headphones have a relatively weak ability to isolate ambient noise, they are not suitable for use in noisy environments.
Conclusion
If you don’t mention the price, Beyerdynamic Verio 200 is definitely the most trustworthy OWS headphones. Except that some people may not like its appearance, the other aspects, including wearing comfort, sound quality, interactive design and experience, are all attractive.
