Appearance Design, Comfort and Battery Life
This is my second pair of TOZO open-ear headphones, the other pair I currently use is TOZO OpenBuds. The appearance designs of the two are completely different. TOZO OpenEgo charging case adopts a square design with rounded corners and is large in size, making it uncomfortable to put in a jeans pocket.
The front of the OpenEgo charging case is a rectangular LED display, and the back is equipped with a USB-C charging port. You can intuitively know the battery information of the case and headphones via the LED display – this is better than TOZO OpenBuds.
TOZO OpenEgo headphones adopt a non-in-ear earhook design, and the external material is skin-friendly and non-slip silicone. The overall workmanship is exquisite, the appearance is fashionable, and it is light and durable. The weight of a single headphone is 12.7g, and the overall weight is about 89g (case+headphones).
The headphone is composed of three parts, the front sound chamber, the ear hooks, and the rear battery part. The brand logo area on the outside of the headphone is the touch control area, and the small dot is the indication light.
Comfort is key with the TOZO OpenEgo headphones, and the package includes a pair of ear supports to improve the fit, ensuring they stay in place during active workouts. The earhooks are comfortable and secure, ensuring the earbuds stay in place no matter how intense my workout gets.
The IPX5 water-resistant rating further enhances their durability, making them perfect for use during various activities such as walking, running, cycling, or driving. The lightweight design also makes it easy to wear for extended periods without causing discomfort.
The long-lasting battery life, with up to 30 hours of total playback time provided by the 600mAh charging case. The headphone also has a battery life of up to 7 hours on a single charge. Plus, the digital power display makes it easy to keep track of the remaining battery life, so you’re never caught without power.
Connectivity, App Support and Controls
The Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity is rock solid, with no dropouts even during the most vigorous exercises, and the headphones supports SBC and AAC codec.
When connecting for the first time, you need to take out the headphones and select “TOZO OpenEgo” in the bluetooth device list of your phone to quickly connect. When using it again, open the lid to connect the successfully paired bluetooth device. The headphones has a stable connection with the mobile phone within 10 meters. In an environment without obstacles, the connection will be intermittent when the phone is more than 10 meters away.
Unfortunately, the OpenEgo does not have multipoint connection capability.
TOZO OpenEgo supports TOZO App for Android and iOS systems. Customizing your listening experience is easy with the TOZO APP. Switch between 16 EQ modes, custom-tune equalizer and control schemes.
The control functions of the TOZO OpenEgo are very comprehensive, and all controls can be completed through the headphones. Plus, you can also customize the control scheme in the TOZO APP.
The control scheme is comprehensive:
- Single-tap L or R earbud: play/pause music
- Double-tap L/R earbud: previous/next track
- Long press L/R earbud: volume-/volume+
- Single-tap L or R earbud: answer call
- Long press L or R earbud for 2s: hang up or reject call
Sound Quality and Leakage
The 16.2mm-diameter drivers deliver exceptional sound quality, with a larger motor coil that ensures clear highs and deep, rich lows. This enhanced audio experience is further complemented by the TOZO OrigX Acoustics, which delve into the finer details of sound, making every listening session truly breathtaking.
When it comes to sound quality, the OpenEgo headphones truly shines. The headphones deliver rich, detailed audio with crisp highs, full-bodied mids, and deep, resonant bass. Whether you’re listening to classical music, rock, jazz, or electronic beats, the TOZO OpenEgo reproduces every note with precision and clarity.
Thanks to directional sound transmission technology, the sound leakage of OpenEgo is at a low level. After turning on the maximum volume, audible sound leaks within 0.5 meters in a quiet environment – there is basically no need to worry about privacy leakage or disturbing others in daily use. Despite the open-ear design, call quality is excellent thanks to the dual microphones noise cancellation.
Conclusion
One of the standout features of the TOZO OpenEgo is their open-ear design, which not only provides a comfortable fit but also allows you to remain aware of your surroundings while enjoying your favorite music. This makes them perfect for use during various activities such as walking, running, cycling, or driving. Plus, the dual-mic noise cancellation technology ensures crystal-clear calls, even in noisy environments.
