01/ Xiaomi Buds 5 Charging Case Teardown
Disassemble the bottom shell of the charging case.
Charging bin front structure, LED indicator is sealed by the hood.
The charging bin back structure, battery is inside the cavity.
Remove the screws, take out the battery and motherboard.
The circuit on one side of the charging case motherboard, with a Type-C charging port in the middle.

LPS LP7811 has a built-in switch charging PMIC, supports 4.1V to 6.0V input voltage, and a maximum input withstand voltage of 30V. IIC programmable output, charging current up to 1.7A, efficiency up to 95%, and charging current accuracy up to 5%. Voltage accuracy up to 0.5%, with path management, priority earphone charging. Synchronously built-in high-current LDO function, can meet the power supply of MCU and various indicator lights.
LP7811 supports intelligent discharge voltage management function, and maximizes the charging efficiency of the charging case to the earbuds through the ultra-low voltage difference voltage follower charging solution, thereby improving the battery life. 02/ Xiaomi Buds 5 Earbuds Teardown
Disassemble the earbud head – the right side is the speaker unit structure, and the left cavity is sealed by the cover.
Take out the speaker.
The bottom structure of the cavity, the backfeed noise cancelling microphone is set on the bracket. The capacitive in-ear detection sensor is fixed under the bracket.
The MEMS microphone of the laser carving R45R is a backfeed noise cancelling microphone, which is used to pick up sound from the inside of the ear canal to further enhance the noise cancelling effect.

After actual measurement, the speaker diameter is about 10.88mm.
Remove the back cavity cover and set the battery inside.
Take out the battery and you can see the circular motherboard at the bottom of the back cavity.
Remove the back cover of the earbud-stem.
The inner structure of the cover is equipped with a bracket and an LDS laser antenna. FPC is a pressure sensor module.
The pressure sensor supports pressing, long pressing and sliding control. The FPC BTB connector is from OCN, model: OK-114GM008-35.

LPS LP4081 ultra-low power linear charger supports 16V withstand voltage, programmable charge current up to 1A, programmable float voltage accuracy of 0.3%, and programmable trickle charge and termination current. LP4081 has an ideal diode mode for high efficiency and low heat operation. LP4081 integrates power path management to support SoC power-up even with a deeply discharged battery. LP4081 has a low Rds on of 150mΩ from the battery to the system’s BAT_FET, which enables high discharge efficiency and low heat over the full load range.
LP4081 provides an I2C interface to enable device programmability and flexibility. LP4081 provides rich protection, including input undervoltage lockout protection (UVLO), input overvoltage protection (OVP), and system short circuit protection (SCP). The typical quiescent current of LP4081 is 0.6µA, and the battery current drops to 0.4µA in shipping mode.

Xiaomi Buds 5 continues the design language of the previous model, the overall compact and lightwight. The open charging case structure is very convenient to use. The earbuds are designed in a semi-in-ear musical note shape with a circular tuning hole, which is highly recognizable.
The charging case has a built-in 480mAh lithium battery, and the earbud has a built-in 35mAh steel shell button battery. The power management system uses the LPS LP7811+LP4081 combination solution, which supports the voltage follow charging function, thereby minimizing the power loss of the charging case battery to the earbud battery conversion, thereby improving the overall battery life of the product.
