My first impression of the Lenovo Legion Y9000 2022 is that it is understated. Above the A side is the LEGION logo, and the mirror design is quite textured. With two symmetrical diagonal lines, the overall design is relatively simple. In addition, there is Lenovo logo on the back of the notebook.
Whether it is for multimedia creators or gamers, the performance of the screen is increasingly important. Higher brightness, wider color gamut, and higher refresh rate can bring the most intuitive experience improvement in their use. Lenovo Legion Y9000P is equipped with a 16-inch screen, 16:10 screen ratio, narrow bezel design, 2560×1600 resolution, 165Hz high refresh rate, 500 nits high brightness, covering 100% sRGB color gamut. In addition, it also supports DOLBY VISION high dynamic display, DC dimming and many other features.
The design of the C-face keyboard is also very satisfactory, not only has a standard-sized numeric keypad area, but also provides large-sized direction keys. The keyboard adopts 0.2mm micro-arc surface keycap, 1.5mm key travel, 2-stage rebound structure, full key without punching, keyboard backlight supports two-speed adjustment, and supports different lighting methods. The trackpad is relatively modest in size.
In terms of interfaces, the Legion Y9000P 2022 provides a Thunderbolt 4, USB-C, 3.5mm headphone interface, USB 3.2 Gen1 interface and camera switch on the left and right sides of the fuselage. In terms of performance, we first tested the screen quality performance. Through the Starscream tester, we can see that the Lenovo Legion Y9000P’s screen covers 99% of the sRGB color gamut. In terms of color accuracy, the maximum value is 3.29, the minimum value is 0.26, and the average color accuracy reaches 1.71. The color gamut coverage and color accuracy of the screen are very good. In addition to the 165Hz high brush and DOLBY VISION high dynamic display we mentioned earlier. The laptop also supports Nahimic sound effects, allowing players to experience a more immersive experience in the game.
The 12th-generation Intel Core mobile processors feature a hybrid architecture that allows performance cores to work with energy-efficient cores to handle multitasking demands. The i7-12700H processor on the Lenovo Legion Y9000P 2022 has 14 built-in processor cores, including 8 efficiency cores and 6 performance cores. First up is the CPU-Z test. The i7-12700H scored 749.4 points in the single-core test and 7836.4 points in the multi-core test. Compared with the previous generation i9-11900K, both single-core and multi-core have been improved to varying degrees.
In the CPU PROFILE test of 3D Mark, the single thread score is 988, the 8 thread score is 5613, the 16 thread score is 7300, and the maximum thread score is 7697 points.
CrossMark test, responsiveness 1422 points, creativity 1972 points, productivity 1605 points, the overall score is 1723 points.
In the test of the decompression software 7-Zip, it scored 91.275GIPS.
In the CINEBENCH R20 test, the single-core score was 698 points and the multi-core score was 6627 points.
In the CINEBENCH R23 test, the single-core score was 1792 points and the multi-core score was 16616 points.
In terms of graphics card, the Lenovo Legion Y9000P 2022 is equipped with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. 140W full power consumption design, 192bit GDDR6 video memory, 3840 CUDA stream processor, support ray tracing and DLSS, support GPU overclocking.
The first is the 3D Mark test. Port Royal scored 5461 points, Time Spy Extreme scored 4587 points, Time Spy scored 9774 points, Fire Strike Ultra scored 5678 points, Fire Strike Extreme scored 10605 points, Fire Strike scored 21004 points, Wild Life Extreme scored 18907 points, Wild Life scored 52091 points point.
In the PCMark 8 Creative project test, it scored 8111 points. The PCMark 10 Extended test scored 9046 points. Among them, the game project score is 17685 points, the basic score is 9309 points, the productivity score is 9673 points, and the digital content creation score is 11366 points. The overall performance is also very good.
In other tests, it can be seen that the Lenovo Legion Y9000P 2022 uses DDR5-4800 dual-channel memory. The memory read speed reached 58271MB/s, the memory write speed was 59779MB/s, and the memory copy speed was 56612MB/s.
Lenovo Legion Y9000P 2022 is equipped with 2 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSDs, which can be seen from CrystalDiskInfo as Samsung’s hard drives. In the CrystalDiskMark test, I was surprised to find that the sequential read speed reached 13694MB/s, and the sequential write speed was 10381MB/s. Yes, the two 1TB hard disks together form a RAID 0 disk array, making full use of the bus bandwidth, and the access performance of the hard disks has also doubled.
In playtesting, I chose Shadow of the Tomb Raider. At 1920×1080 resolution, without ray tracing turned on, you can get an average frame rate of 152fps. Even with ray tracing turned on, the average frame rate reached 103fps, which can be said to be very smooth.
In the “Bright Memory: Infinite” test, 1920×1080 resolution was also selected, high-quality RTX, and DLSS was selected as the performance level, and the test got an average frame rate of 88fps. It can be said that with the blessing of i7-12700H and RTX 3060, Lenovo Legion Y9000P has excellent game performance.
In terms of heat dissipation, Lenovo Legion Y9000P 2022 uses frostbite cooling system 4.0. These include 3D Mesh heat pipes, turbocharged fans, multi-zone air inlet and outlet systems, 335 copper alloy heat sinks, and 5 high-performance composite heat pipes. So how is the actual cooling performance?
Using AIDA64 for FPU stress test, it can be seen that after 30 minutes of testing, the power consumption of the CPU remains around 90W, and the performance release is relatively stable. At this time, the temperature of the WASD area of the keyboard is about 31.2°C, and the temperature of the touchpad is around 25.7°C.
Tested simultaneously with FurMark using AIDA64. After 30 minutes, the power consumption of the graphics card is maintained at 94W, the temperature is 82°C, the frequency of the graphics card is 1972.0MHz, and the power consumption of the CPU is 45W. At this time, the temperature of the WASD area of the keyboard is about 33.3°C, the temperature of the touchpad is 27.5°C, and the highest temperature reaches 49.1°C. The keyboard just feels warm during normal use. It can be said that the cooling performance of Lenovo Legion Y9000P 2022 is still good.
