Appearance Design and Comfort
OPPO ENCO Air4 Pro charging case continues the classic design of the previous generation. It is round around, slightly frosted on the surface, and feel comfortable. The bottom of the charging case is the USB-C interface and bluetooth pairing button.
OPPO Enco Air4 Pro earbuds adopt a design similar to AirPods Pro, which is also the most mature solution at present. The concave area on the top of the earbud is the touch control area, which is easy to distinguish by touch and vision, making it convenient for blind operation.
The earbuds are designed in an oval shape and equipped with 3 sets of silicone eartips to fit different ear canals. Each earbud weighs only 4.4g, which is very light to wear on the ear, and there is no discomfort even if you wear it for a long time. It is also stable enough that it will not fall off when running. It also supports IP55 waterproof and dustproof, so you don’t have to worry about sweat and dust when wearing it for daily exercise.
Connectivity, App Support and Battery Life
The earbuds use Bluetooth 5.4 technology and supports SBC, AAC and LHDC 5.0 codec. Also, OPPO Enco Air4 Pro support multipoint connection and can connect mobile phone and computer at the same time.
OPPO Enco Air4 Pro supports the HeyMelody App for Android and iOS systems – after installing and opening the App, it will automatically connect to the earbuds. The App provides personalized noise cancelling options, multipoint connection management, Hi-Res mode switch, spatial audio switch, control customization, game mode switch, master tuning options, headphone fit detection, headphone finding, firmware updates, and more.
The battery capacity of the charging case is 440mAh, and that of the earbuds is 58mAh. The single battery life after turning off the ANC mode is up to 12 hours, and the total battery life is up to 44 hours. The battery life after turning on the AAC+ANC mode is about 5.5 hours (50% volume+LHDC+ANC on= 4.5H), and the total battery life is about 20 hours. Plus, OPPO Enco Air4 Pro support fast charging function, charging for 10 minutes, and playing music for 4 hours. The case charges using USB-C for charging full in 80min.
Game and Video Playback
OPPO Enco Air4 Pro plays videos without issues on both Android and iPhone. There’s lipsync performance in video apps like YouTube and Apple TV.
The Enco Air4 Pro also has a dedicated low latency game mode you can activate from the Android and iPhone app. This helps to synchronize the sound effects with the action on your screen, and the latency as low as 47ms.
ANC Noise Cancelling and Transparent Mode
Thanks to the addition of a high-specification digital microphone, OPPO Enco Air4 Pro has three noise cancelling microphones. Their noise cancelling depth reaches 49dB, and combined with the 4000Hz ultra-wideband, it can effectively eliminate more external noise. At the same time, Enco Air4 Pro has also passed the German Rhine TÜV high-performance noise cancelling certification.
Street for ANC: The comparison before and after noise cancelling is still very obvious. The engine sound, horn sound and vocals are reduced a lot. And thanks to the wind noise cancelling algorithm, there will not be a lot of wind noise in the earbuds even in windy weather.
Public Transportation for ANC: The main sources of noise come from running noise and vocals. After turning on the ANC mode, the entire noise environment changes greatly. Most of the vehicle running sounds are eliminated, and vocals are reduced, but the vocal noise cancelling is slightly poor. If you want absolute silence, you can listen to music.
Transparent Mode: The transparent mode on the OPPO Enco Air4 Pro will receive brighter sound when you need it, allowing you to hear the ambient sound around you. Playing music at a medium volume, this feature is not very useful when talking to others.
Overall, the low-frequency noise cancelling is very good, with the maximum value reaching 45dB. The mid-low frequency noise cancelling (vocal noise cancelling) is a little bit worse. The mid-high frequency also has a significant noise cancelling effect, which can suppress some sharp noises very well. However, there is still a more obvious noise increase phenomenon in the high-frequency.
OPPO Enco Air4 Pro supports multiple noise cancelling modes, and you need to select the noise cancelling mode type in the HeyMelody App. Mild noise cancelling mode is suitable for home, office and cafe shop. Medium noise cancelling mode is suitable for streets, shopping malls, etc. Deep noise cancelling mode is suitable for airplanes, subways and buses, etc.
Plus, they support smart dynamic noise cancellation mode. The earbuds will automatically match the noise cancellation mode according to the intensity or type of ambient sound, which is very user-friendly. The earbuds also support call noise cancellation, so you can get a clear call effect even in a noisy environment without deliberately raising your voice.
Sound Quality of OPPO Enco Air4 Pro
OPPO Enco Air4 Pro is equipped with a 12.4mm titanium-plated dynamic driver, supports AAC, SBC and LHDC 5.0 codecs, and has passed Hi-Res certification. Plus, it support spatial audio (OPPO phones only) and three master tunings (Original, Bass, Vocal).
The low-frequency is strong and powerful, with excellent bass quantity and extension, and sufficient atmosphere. The mid-frequency is soft, full and natural. The high-frequency is clear, transparent and textured, with good resolution and separation. The tri-frequency is relatively balanced, with natural connection, and the solid low-frequency does not affect the details of the mid-high frequency too much.
Overall, OPPO Enco Air4 Pro is very inclined towards pop vocal style. There is a very obvious gain in the mid-low frequency, and a slight suppression near the high-frequency. After switching to vocal mode, the energy distribution of the tri-frequency and the hearing are much softer and more balanced, the vocals are slightly protruding, the atmosphere is good, and it performs well for most pop music.
Conclusion
OPPO Enco Air4 Pro are not as good as flagship earbuds in terms of sound quality and noise cancelling performance, but it is also a leader in the same price range. Plus, they have better performance in terms of battery life, connectivity and app function.
