After pairing with an OPPO phone running ColorOS 14.0 or above, a pop-up window will appear when you open the lid, allowing you to see the battery level of the earphones/charging case and the LHDC.

Also, the Enco X3 supports multipoint connection, meaning you can connect it to two devices at the same time and switch between them when you receive a call, or when you pause on one device, and play on the other.

OPPO Enco X3 supports the HeyMelody App for Android and iOS. The app includes firmware updates for the earbuds, show the battery status of the earbuds and case, helps you find the earbuds when you’ve lost them, fit detection, white noise, and turn on the gaming mode.

Battery Life, Games and Video Playback

The OPPO Enco X3 plays videos without issues on both Android and iPhone. There’s lipsync performance in video apps like TikTok, Netflix, YouTube and Apple TV.

The Enco X3 also has a dedicated gaming mode you can activate from the Android and iPhone app with the latency as low as 54ms. This helps to synchronize the sound effects with the action on your screen, and also changes the sound signature of the earbuds, to accentuate basically of shooting game sounds. Not perfect, still neat.

Looking at specs, there’s nothing that really jumps out on the OPPO Enco X3. The earbuds are IP55 waterproof protected, meaning they resist rain and sweat, and the playtime varies from 6 to 10 hours on a single charge, dependent if you have Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) on or off. The battery life will be further reduced when LHDC codec is turned on. The case charges using USB-C or Qi wireless charging.

Noise Cancelling Performance and Call

OPPO Enco X3 is equipped with 3 high signal-to-noise ratio microphones and 1 VPU bone conduction microphone. The bone conduction microphone assists in picking up sound, further enhancing the ability to pick up vocals in noisy environments. The maximum noise cancelling depth of the headset reaches 50dB, and the effective noise cancelling bandwidth is 5500Hz.

The Enco X3 provides 4 noise cancelling modes to choose from, including deep noise cancelling, middle noise cancelling, light noise cancelling, and smart noise cancelling. The default deep noise cancelling mode uses a real-time adaptive algorithm to bring better noise cancelling effects.

In the office scene, after turning on the deep ANC mode, the sound of the air conditioner is almost inaudible, and the voices of people talking nearby become much quieter, making it difficult to hear the content of the conversations. In the subway, the operating noise becomes very small; the voices of people talking nearby are also significantly suppressed, and the experience of listening to music or watching

The transparency mode performs well, but it should be noted that there is slight current noise after it is turned on. The transparency mode amplifies the vocal to a certain extent, and you can communicate normally with others within a distance of 5m.

The call performance is average. In noisy scenes, you sometimes need to repeat what you say so that the other party can hear it clearly. In a relatively quiet environment, the call performance is good.

OPPO Enco X3 supports golden hearing, which conducts multi-dimensional modeling analysis through ear canal scanning and listening test to form a unique enhancement plan suitable for you. The whole process only takes 3 minutes and the operation is very simple. For example, my hearing can be improved to a higher degree in the mid-frequency area, and the golden hearing enhances the mid-frequency in a targeted manner, making the vocal warmer and more vivid.

OPPO Enco X3 is also equipped with a self-developed spatial audio function, which supports two modes: fixed and head tracking. Officials said that this function is not limited to devices, sound sources, or scenes. In actual tests, spatial audio can also be experienced normally with mobile phones of other brands.

After turning on spatial audio, the earbuds will simulate real spatial hearing, and users can get a very magical experience: for example, if you turn your head to the left, you will obviously feel that the volume is louder in the right ear.

Acoustic Configuration and Sound Quality

OPPO Enco X3 is equipped with a dual-unit acoustic system developed jointly with Dynaudio, with a built-in 11mm woofer and 6mm tweeter, covering an ultra-wide frequency response range of 15~40kHz. The earbuds are equipped with a customized dual DAC (Digital Audio Codec) to better play the performance of the dual units. The Enco X3 support LHDC 5.0 transmission protocol and have passed Hi-Res Wireless certification.

OPPO Enco X3 makes it easy to feel the surging and strong low-frequency, deep extension, and elasticity; the bass quantity and power are excellent, and the atmosphere is sufficient. The mid-frequency is relatively soft, full, natural and listenable.

The high-frequency is transparent and textured, with good extension. The imaging is clear, the positioning of vocals and instruments is clear and accurate, and the sense of presence is strong. The soundstage is wide, the separation is high, and it has a high resolution.

Also, 5 Dynaudio tuning modes are provided, each with its own characteristics, which can be adapted to the timbre of different tracks. It should be noted that spatial audio will reduce the sound quality and is not recommended to be turned on when listening to music.

Conclusion

OPPO Enco X3 has been comprehensively improved compared to the OPPO Enco X2, bringing new surprises in the sounding. Dynaudio tuning also provides different sound styles, and different people can easily find satisfactory sound effects. Plus, comfortable fit wearing, 50dB adaptive ANC, spatial audio, golden hearing, cervical health monitoring and other functions have enhanced their competitiveness. It can also be used as a substitute for Apple Airpods Pro 2.
