New design with more comfortable wearing experience

When I got the Sennheiser Accentum True Wireless, I found that the charging case was even smaller than what I saw on the product brochure – this should be the smallest product among Sennheiser’s true wireless earbuds. It can be easily put into trouser pockets or bag pockets.

The charging case has changed from a bar to a square, and the outer shell material has also changed from fabric to a lower-cost matte frosted plastic. The opening and closing damping of the charging case has also been reduced, probably to optimize the opening of the lid with one hand.

The shape of Sennheiser Accentum True Wireless earbuds has also been further optimized. Instead of continuing the replaceable earwings design, the earwing is integrated with the earbud cavity by further optimizing the ergonomics. The Accentum True Wireless earbuds have undergone a new and improved design, and they perform better in terms of wearing comfort and stability, and can stay in my ears for a longer time.

This time, the official also emphasized that Accentum True Wireless further reduced the size of the structure near the outside of the ear on the basis of ergonomics to achieve a better fit. When wearing, put the earbuds into the ears first, and then rotate them backwards (until the earbuds are stuck in the ears and do not move), you can achieve the best fit and stability. The earbuds fit very tightly to the auricle, and it is difficult for them to get loose even when running, and there is no obvious squeezing feeling.

Plus, it also comes with 4 sizes of silicone eartips (XS, S, M, L). Since everyone’s ears are different, I recommend that first-time earbuds users try all the eartips to find the most comfortable pair, which can further ensure a good seal.

Connectivity, App, Controls and Battery Life

Sennheiser Accentum True Wireless supports Bluetooth 5.3 protocol and Bluetooth LE audio, and its stability, transmission distance and power consumption are guaranteed. Plus, it not only supports SBC/AAC codec, but also aptX and LC3 codec.

The Accentum True Wireless earbuds supports the Smart Control App for Android and iOS – once you install and open the app, it will automatically connect to the earbuds. The app provides noise cancellation options, preset EQ, custom EQ, Soundcheck, touch settings, and more.

I am very satisfied with the operation experience of the earbuds. The touch feedback is very sensitive, and the functional division of the left and right earbuds is very clear. Plus, you can also customize the control scheme in the app.

The control scheme is comprehensive:

  • Single-tap R earbud: play/pause music
  • Single-tap L earbud: Switching between ANC/Transparent mode
  • Double-tap L/R earbud: previous/next track
  • Long press L/R earbud: volume-/volume+

The single battery time with ANC mode off is up to 8 hours, and the total battery life is up to 28 hours. The battery life with ANC mode on is about 5 hours. The case charges using USB-C or Qi wireless charging.

ANC Noise Cancellation and Transparent Mode

The noise cancellation effect of Sennheiser Accentum True Wireless is good. The good sealing of the eartips and the ANC noise cancellation algorithm can reduce the noise interference in the external environment to a whisper. At the same time, it can quickly eliminate subway noise, motor running sound, and noise in supermarkets/shopping malls.

Plus, Accentum True Wireless also provides an anti-wind noise mode. When you are outdoors in a windy environment, this mode will be very useful and can effectively avoid unnecessary noise interference in the earbuds.

When ANC is not needed, single-tap the left earbud to turn on the transparent mode. After turning it on, you can hear clear ambient sound and greatly reduce the occlusion effect of the earbuds. The transparent mode also provides 3 levels: low, medium, and high. You can choose different levels of transparent via the Smart Control App.

There is also an interesting feature that provides a “sound zone” mode in the app (need to obtain mobile phone location permission). When the earbuds enter a certain area with the user, the preset mode can be triggered. For example, when I arrive at the office from the subway, the earbuds will automatically turn off ANC and turn on transparent mode, and the preset EQ will also change accordingly. Although I don’t use this feature very often, it is indeed quite interesting.

Sound Quality: Tends to be more pop in tuning style

They are equipped with 7mm TrueResponse dynamic driver, and the hardware is top-level configuration at the same price.

In terms of hearing, the sound characteristics of Sennheiser Accentum True Wireless are more pop style – the bass is full and punch. When listening to songs dominated by vocals, the earbuds can also take into account natural midrange and crisp highs. When faced with some more complex modern music, Accentum True Wireless can also handle it easily.

After 4 days of use, I still feel that the bass part of the default tuning is a bit thick. For example, when listening to Hard Rock and POP Rock music such as AC/DC and Green Day, I feel a bit irritated after listening for a long time. Later, I also tried different equalizers in the app, and I found that the “Jazz” tuning curve is more suitable for my “appetite”, the sound is more balanced, and the mids and high-frequency is clearer.

Conclusion

The hardware configuration, wearing comfort and sound performance of Sennheiser Accentum True Wireless are among the best products of the same price. Of course, there are some shortcomings, such as Sennheiser wireless earbuds still do not support spatial audio technology.
