Appearance Design and Accessories

SHANLING MG100 earbuds are made of aviation-grade aluminum alloy material, which has been carefully carved and anti-oxidation treated by 5-axis CNC process – the overall feel is very smooth, but it is more susceptible to fingerprints.

MG100 is only available in black version, but because the surface of the cavity is treated with a mirror process, it looks like silver gray. Plus, a single earbud weighs only 5.6g and has an ergonomic design for a comfortable and stable wearing experience.

Equipped with 2 pairs of replaceable tuning nozzle filters, one pair is balanced filters, the tri-frequency is relatively balanced, suitable for all types of music. Another pair of ambience filters has been installed, slightly increasing the low-frequency and reducing the brightness of the high-frequency – suitable for rock, jazz, pop, etc. Also, 10 sets of eartips are given away (1 pair has been installed), including balanced eartips, vocal eartips, bass eartips, and memory foam eartips.

The headphone cable is MMCX pin furukawa monocrystalline copper (4-strand and 18-core), supporting 3.5mm single-end and 4.4mm balanced plugs that are replaceable (3.5mm plugs are installed).

Acoustic Configuration and Sound Quality

The Shanling MG100 adopts a high-precision ceramic diaphragm dynamic driver with an ultra-linear dual magnetic circuit system + dual-cavity acoustic system + HCCAW high tension wire voice coil.

The advantages of the ceramic diaphragm are high hardness, high strength, wide frequency response, light weight, etc.; it is suitable for many usage scenarios, is durable and can complete the job well. As long as the tuning is in place, the ceramic diaphragm can bring super resolution and excellent transient performance.

Ambience Filter + Balance Eartips (default): This combination has a strong pop flavor, especially the bass texture, layering and power that are most attractive. Not only can it easily create a rich musical atmosphere, but when needed, the bass part can become the protagonist on the stage – surging and neat. However, the bass is not thick, leaving plenty of space for treble and mids.

When listening to Billie Eilish’s “Everything I Wanted”, the bass part is like a beating heart, with high cohesion, deep extension, fast rebound, good transient, and just the right bass quantity.

The vocals are also quite distinctive – the distance is relatively close, smooth, loose, clear, slightly warm, with a more obvious graininess and a little fluffiness. Every part of the singer’s voice is presented accurately and meticulously, without missing any detail.

The treble quantity is sufficient and handled very naturally. The details and layering are good, there are not many overtones, the sound is bright but not sweet, and bringing excellent restoration.

Ambience Filter + Vocal Eartips: The vocal becomes more delicate and mellow, less exciting, and more narrative and emotional. The bass quantity is sufficient, but the power is not as strong as balanced filters + vocal eartips – it focuses more on the bass envelopment and atmosphere. I also like this combination better. I also like this combination better, it feels like I have changed my headphones, and the sound difference is quite obvious.

Balanced Filter + Balance Eartips: The bass is reduced and the treble texture is further highlighted. There will be obvious positive gain for musical instruments, female voices and some classical tracks.

Conclusion

The longer you listen, you will find that Shanling MG100 has no shortcomings in the tri-frequency. By replacing the tuning nozzle filters and eartips, the tri-frequency can be highlighted to varying degrees, thereby providing a different listening experience.
