Xtour Murmur review: Earrings that listen to music

Xtour Murmur is an open-ear TWS earbuds with an earring-shaped design, and its shape and product positioning are quite unique – targeting the fashion crowd.

Xtour Murmur specs and features:
  • Bluetooth 5.3 with SBC/AAC codec
  • 6.5 hours playback of per charge
  • Charging case can charge earbuds fully 4 times
  • 10mm dynamic driver+PU composite diaphragm
  • IP5X dustproof rating

Design, Comfort and Battery Life

The charging case is stacked like two shells and has a large size. It’s also the first time I’ve seen such a design. The battery capacity of the charging case is 340mAh, and the earbud is 31mAh. The earbuds have a single battery life of up to 6.5 hours and the total battery life of up to 32 hours.

The curves on both sides of Xtour Murmur earbuds resemble the letter “C”, and the “round ball” part is the sound chamber and speaker. The other part has two physical buttons, and there will be obvious feedback when pressed. The blue part of the earbud is made of soft skin-like material, while the gold part is made of metal. A single earbud weighs 5.7g and support IP5X dustproof rating.

How to wear – Put the sound chamber (ball) of the earbud upwards, pull the upper and lower parts to clip the earphone to the pinna – finally, adjust the “ball” so that the sound chamber is close to the ear canal.

Since the “earring” shape of earbuds is very special, it is significantly different from most common in-ear, semi-in-ear or even ear-hook earphones, so it takes some time to get used to it. However, after using it a few times, you can basically get used to this special wearing method.

Thanks to Xtour Murmur’s light weight and clip-ear wearing method – almost no feeling of wearing, it is very comfortable and suitable for wearing for a long time. However, limited by the shape and wearing method, Xtour Murmur may be less friendly to users with larger earlobes.

Connectivity, Control, Games and Videos Playback

The earbuds uses the Bluetooth 5.3 and supports SBC and AAC codec. When connecting for the first time, simply select “Xtour Murmur” in your phone’s list of bluetooth devices to connect quickly. When using it again, just take the earbud out of the charging case, and Xtour Murmur will automatically connect to the paired Bluetooth device.

The left and right earbuds are each equipped with a physical control button, which can be used to play/pause, answer/hang up, switch tracks, and activate voice assistants by single-tap, double-tap, and long-press 2s.

Of course, the shape of the Xtour Murmur and the layout of the control buttons are relatively rare, so for new users, it takes a certain amount of time to adapt.

Xtour Murmur support low-latency mode with the latency as low as 40ms. Playing games and watching videos is no problem – it works flawlessly on both Android and iPhone with perfect sound and picture sync.

Sound Quality, Leakage and Calls

XTOUR Murmur uses AI integrated sound beam technology to allow sound to enter the ear more efficiently, achieve directional sound transmission, and improve call quality and privacy. It is equipped with a 10mm dynamic driver+PU composite diaphragm, and has a real-time rendering of a three-dimensional soundstage to provide strong and stable sound quality and enhance the sense of presence and immersion in music.

The hearing of the earbuds is quite satisfactory in the performance of open-ear headphones. The mid-frequency and high-frequency are restored relatively well, with certain details. The low-frequency is slightly worse, which is in line with the sound performance that mainstream open-ear headphones should have.

In terms of sound leakage control, Xtour Murmur also performed well. In a quieter office environment, when the earbuds volume is above 80%, there will be some slight sound leakage from 50cm away. In loud outdoor scenes, sound leakage is negligible – so there’s no need to worry about disturbing others.

Verdict

Xtour Murmur is an appearance-oriented product, and fashion appearance is their most prominent and distinctive feature. It innovatively integrates open-ear headphones and earrings, and endows the earbuds with a strong fashion sense through the jewelry-like design. The design of the earbuds is similar to the Ambie Sound Earcuffs, but the Murmur is longer.
